I love to go to Wheeling because of all the fun stuff to do. I have an apartment in Wheeling that I go to on business about once per month or so. There is even a small shopping/restaurant area nearby so you have choices for Eat n Park for breakfast, and Applebees and other dinner places. We were very happy with the room and staff there, and would recommend it to anyone. We couldn't find a room in WHeeling the night we went, so we ended up driving to St Clairsville Ohio and stayed at the Hampton. Most of Mountaineers that I checked, were $15 and up. There was quite a variety of machines to play, the table games were a little more affordable with $10 tables. I felt comfortable walking around alone while my hubby played poker. The staff at Wheeling Island was pleasant, smiled at you. The staff at Mountaineer was pleasant, but I'd pick Wheeling anyday. He proceeded to keep the cigar in the hand closest to me and blow the smoke my way. The other players in Mountaineer were rude, I tried to cover my nose/mouth and not breath in the cigar smoke from the player next to me. I've sat and watched smoke move horizontal in Mountaineer through the air, not up, like in most casinos.
I greatly preferred Wheeling Island to Mountaineer. We have been to Mountaineer several times this winter, and the most recent trip to Wheeling Island.
